Betsy Moody

Maggie Valley, Betsy Ann Moody, age 75, of Maggie Valley and Ochlocknee Bay, Florida, died peacefully at the home of her sister, Brenda O'Keefe on Monday, August 2, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Savannah, GA, but moved to Miami, Florida at a young age. Betsy later lived in St. Petersburg, FL. and Tallahassee, FL, before moving to Ochlocknee Bay, Florida upon retirement. Mrs. Moody was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eva Strickland; her first husband, Robert Mahieu; her second husband, Frank Moody; her son, Robert Mahieu; and her daughter, Gayle Mahieu. Betsy and Frank owned and operated the Terra Rosa Hardware Store in Tallahassee, Florida, before retiring to Ochlocknee Bay, Florida. She devoted her life for caring for her siblings, Brenda and Robert later her children and grandchildren and most recently Hunter and Garrett, who she treated as her own. She is survived by her sister, Brenda O'Keefe; her brother, Robert Anderson; two grand-daughters; Victoria Tucker and Bayle Mahieu; one grandson, Ryan Mahieu; special friends, Mark and Nancy Myers and Hunter and Garrett of Ochlocknee, Bay, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
