Betsy Whitner Shelton

Waynesville, Betsy Whitner Shelton, 74, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at her home. A native of Haywood County, Betsy is the daughter of the late Ray and Mary Henson Whitner. She is also preceded in death by her husband Joe Shelton who passed in 2021. 

Betsy was a graduate of Tuscola High School. She worked in customer service for Dayco for 28 ½ years before going on to work at Dana International and PLI in Asheville. 

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren. Betsy attended Calvary Road Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Jonathan Shelton (Somer) and Joseph Shelton (Lindsey); one brother, Ben Ray Whitner (Annie) and her four granddaughters Lilly, Alli Jo, Raylee & Emery Shelton.

Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor John Swanger officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. 

The care of Ms. Shelton has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
