Betty McElrath Baker, age 84, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Hazel Pless McElrath. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bud" Vinson Baker; and a son-in-law, Charles Lee Mehaffey. Betty was a member of West Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Sanford and her husband, Woody, of Canton, Dianne Jarjoura and her husband, John, of Hampton, Virginia, and Robyn Burnette and her husband, Danny, of Canton; one sister, Pat Pace of Canton; four grandsons, Brian Brett, Brad Sanford, and Ryan Mehaffey; two granddaughters, Brandy Underwood and her husband, Robbie, and Haley Burnette; three great-granddaughters, Morgan and Madison Sanford, and Aniston Underwood; and one great-grandson, Ethan Sanford. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at West Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend George Holley, Reverend Wallace Britt, and Reverend W.O. "Bill" Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Jerry Pace, Billy Burnette, Mike Shook, Keith and Jacob Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Sunday school class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Canton Baptist Church Existing Building Fund, 75 Lowe Street, Canton, NC 28716, Gideon International – Haywood East Camp, P.O.
