Waynesville-Betty Jean Ramseur Brendle, age 72, of West End Circle, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. A native of Lincolnton, NC, she had previously resided in Morganton and had lived in Haywood County for the last 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Earl Alexander Ramseur and Jennie Caroline Chapman Ramseur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Ramseur, and her husband, Reverend Kelly Clarence Brendle who died in 1974. As a United Methodist pastor's wife, she served the church alongside her husband while raising their three children. Her grandchildren whom she cherished knew her endearingly as "Gram". She is survived by two daughters, Janet Brendle Harris and her husband, Jeff, of Charlotte and Marcia Brendle McDonald and her husband, Dale, of Lake Junaluska; a son, Michael S. Brendle and his wife Jaki Niles Brendle of Asheville; two sisters, Dean Fox and her husband, Charles of Clemmons, NC, and Joann Benfield and her husband, Gene, of Greenville, NC; a brother, Gary Ramseur of Morganton; and six grandchildren, Patrick and Adam McDonald, Jordan and Hannah Brendle, and Kelly and Grant Harris. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. W. Lyn Sorrells, Reverend Dr. John Christy, Jr. and Reverend Dr. Garland Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. A committal service will be held at Burke Memorial Park in Drexel, NC. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 838, Waynesville, NC 28786.
