Betty Brown

Betty Gentry Brown, age 76, of Shannon Drive, died on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Cocke County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Erskin and Irene Lance Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Brown, who died in 1989; and four sisters. She was employed at Grove Park Inn for 11 years and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by five sisters, Mildred Reis of Fairview, Pearl Thomas and her husband, Donald, and Joyce Franklin and her husband, Junior, all of Weaverville, Mary Black and Jeanette Grooms and her husband, George, all of Asheville; three brothers, Tate Gentry and his wife, Polly, of Asheville, David Gentry, Sr., and his wife, Peggy, of Duncan, SC, and John Gentry and his wife, Mary, of Weaverville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Gentry and Reverend Steve Rhinehart. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
