Betty Caldwell

August 6, 1930 — July 12, 2007

Waynesville-Betty Berry Caldwell, age 76, of 19 Joyce Street, died on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at her residence. A native of Macon County, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Charles Roy and Bonnie Allen Berry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Frank Berry. She was a member of Ratcliff Cove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jonathan Crawford Caldwell; one daughter, Susan Rickman and her husband, Jeff, of Waynesville; one son, Frank Kevin Caldwell and his wife, Christie, of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Glenda Sheppard and her husband, Max, of Canton and Shirley Lewis and her husband, Jack, of Maggie Valley; and one granddaughter, Kirby B. Mills. The family extends special thanks to Donna Stephens. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Metcalf officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Max Sheppard, J.R. Caldwell, Brooke Sheppard, Lance Lewis, James Berry and Andy Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Kendrick Caldwell, Gregory Boyd and Jack Lewis.
