Betty Cook

May 2, 1931 — July 8, 2015

Waynesville, Betty Nell Caldwell Cook, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Autumn Care. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Tommy and Ella Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Cook, who died in 1963; a sister, Mary Waldrop; and six brothers, Lloyd, Doc, John, Jack, Tommy and Frank Caldwell. She worked at Jonathan Valley Elementary in food service and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed reading and cooking for her family and especially loved spending time with her grandbabies. Betty is survived by her daughter, Joyce Williamson and her husband, Charles; a son, Teddy Dale Cook and his wife, Kathy; five sisters, Annie Caldwell, Ruby Bradley, Cora Moody, Sarah Sutton and Minnie Parton; one brother, Thurman Caldwell; four grandchildren, Crystal McCracken, Travis Williamson, Lisa Massie and Monica Wells; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior at the funeral home.
