Waynesville, Betty Lambert Cozart-Hawkins, age 67, passed away on February 6, 2016 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina surrounded by loved ones. She is now at peace after a long and brave battle. Born and raised in South Hill, Virginia, she lived most of her life on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Betty spent most of golden years in her dream log cabin in Waynesville, North Carolina with her husband, Charles. She was the eldest daughter of the late Robert James and Ruby Virginia Claiborne Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Lambert. "Miss Betty," as everyone knew her, was truly a ray of sunshine. Her passion and love for life was contagious. She was kind, generous, made every stranger a friend, and brought laughter everywhere she went. The world will be a little less bright without her in it, but we are all better for having known her. She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Hawkins, daughters, Nicole and Candace Cozart, step-daughters, Ronda Canning and Cynthia Lindeman and their families, and her mother-in-law, Beatrice Hawkins. Betty is also survived by her brothers, Robert Lambert, Raymond Tolbert, and Garland Tolbert, as well as her sister, Helen Overton. The family plans to hold a celebration of Betty's life from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the family home 42 Chinaberry Court, Waynesville, NC 28785.
