Betty Evans

Canton – Betty Owen Evans, age 87, formerly of Canton passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in Charlotte. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late A. P. and Lena Murr Owen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. Evans, who died in 1985. She retired from American Enka Corporation with 25 years of service and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed family genealogy and spending time with her family was important to her. In her retirement years, Betty loved to care for other family members in the twilight of their lives. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Tipton (Ken) of Charlotte; a son, Mark Evans (Donna) of Greenville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, David Evans (Jessica) Amy E. Cudd (Jody) and Tara T. Howie (Brian) and four great-grandchildren, Alex and Asia Weigand and Noah and Cameron Howie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Pastor James Earl Green officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
