Betty Freeman

Waynesville-Betty Jo Freeman, age 72, of 201 Freeman Road, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at Britthaven of Franklin.

She was a native of Maggie Valley and a life long resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Grace Rich Grant. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jack Grant. She was employed by Dayco as an inspector and retired in 1970 after 21 years of service. She was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Waynesville. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William ''Bill'' T. Freeman; one daughter, Gwendolyn Nicholson, of Sylva; two sons, William ''Mike'' Freeman, of Murrells Inlet, SC and Timothy Grant Freeman and his wife, Julia, of Waynesville; three sisters, Georgie Childress, of Waynesville, Evelyn Green, of Lake Junaluska and Willie Grace ''Smokie'' Jones, of Canton; one grandchild, Gwendolyn Lu Ann Hughes; and one great grandchild, Samantha Lee Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The Reverend Paul Carden will officiate. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Flowers are appreciated and memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
