Betty Goodson

Canton- Betty Bumgarner Goodson, age 79, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nancy Selma Singleton Bumgarner. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Goodson, who died in 1987; a sister, Dorothy Faye Bumgarner and two brothers, Frank and Carroll Bumgarner. Betty was very active in teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Crestview Baptist Church of which she was a member. She is survived by two sisters, Joan B. Pless and her husband, Howard, of Canton and Iva Lee Elingburg and her husband, Richard, of Candler; a brother, Ernest Bumgarner and his wife, Bobbie Jean; sisters-in-law; Mildred Ridlen, and Terri Goodson both of Canton; a brother-in-law, Clifford Kuykendall; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Crestview Baptist Church with the Reverend Dan Page, Reverend Howard Pless and Lana Elingburg officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
