Betty Haynes

Betty Leatherwood Haynes, age 85, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Austell, Georgia. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Willie Pearl Medford Leatherwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Haynes, who died in 1990. Betty was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters; Sylvia Hughes and her husband, Jerry, and Mary Ann Railey Payne and her husband, Dudley, all of Douglasville, Georgia; one sister, Dot Morris of Canton; one brother-in-law, Joe Haynes of Clyde; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Bumgardner officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
