Betty Higgins

Waynesville, Betty Sue Higgins, age 74, of South Hill Street, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Mary Lucille Wood and the late Howard Wood. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Wood. Betty was an employee of Dayco and retired in 1993 with 35-years service. She enjoyed spending quality time with friends, family, and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Alice Genet and her husband, Jerry, of Clyde and JoAnn Partridge of Waynesville; one son, Lonnie Higgins of Waynesville; two brothers, Gene Wood and his wife, Linda, of Canton and James Wood and his wife, Mary Jean, of Waynesville; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Evelyn Cooper. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Creasman officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
