Betty Holmes

Waynesville, Betty Caldwell Holmes, age 66, of Pot Leg Road, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Viola Smith Caldwell. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Holmes, who died in 1993; one sister, Hazel Caldwell; and two brothers, Don and Clifton Caldwell. Betty loved cooking, gardening, and raising chickens. She is survived by Wanda Griffis and her husband, Earle, of Pensacola, Florida; one son, Ronald Holmes and his wife, Julie, of Waynesville; three sisters, Ellamae Grasty and Linda Campbell and her husband, Bobby, of Waynesville and Barbara Snells and her husband, Ray, of Florida; a brother, John Caldwell, of Sylva; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Caldwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to services at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
