Betty Lanning

Clyde, Betty Jean Lanning, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Brian Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Addie West Mercer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lanning; a daughter, Becky Lanning; one sister, Esther Crayne; and a special companion, David Brown. Betty loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by one son, Ronald Lanning and his wife, Judy, of Jonathan Creek; one daughter, Patsy Wells, of Waynesville; two brothers, Tommy Mercer of Shelby and Willy Mercer and his wife, Dorothy, of Clyde; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
