Canton – Betty Sue Kuykendall McCoy, 86, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Mission Memorial Campus.

Betty was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late William Oscar and Fannie Mae Sales Kuykendall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Avery McCoy and William O’Brien; a son, Timothy James McCoy; one daughter, Ava Jean McCoy Kinley; two brothers, Troy and Arel Kuykendall; and one sister, Frances Kuykendall Smith. She loved the mountains, enjoyed telling stories, and loved her family very much.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Smith and Callie McCoy Yeary; an adopted son/grandson, Joseph Anthony McCoy; one brother, Arvel Kuykendall of Clyde; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Gwyn Cemetery in Cruso.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
