Betty Reeves

Waynesville, Betty Olsen Reeves, age 84, of 21 Pruett Lane, died on Monday, February 08, 2010 at her residence. A native of St. Joseph, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Esther Rowland Olsen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John K. Reeves, who died in 1995, and a son, Kindred Reeves, who died in 2008. She was a lifetime member and past matron of Waynesville Chapter 165 Order of the Eastern Star. Betty was the first recipient of the Liston B. Ramsey Award for Haywood County Democrat of the Year in 1996. She is survived by four daughters, Mary Cooley of the home and Rebecca Pastoor and her husband, Bert, of Lake Junaluska, Martha Strickland, of Burke, Virginia and Sarah Butters and her husband, Brian, of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; two brothers, Joseph Olsen, of Palm City, Florida and Jack Olsen and his wife, Bobbe, of Belleville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Christopher Cooley and his wife, Sarah, Elizabeth Young and her husband, Matt, and Helena and Kerry Butters; and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
