BETTY TURNER "In Loving Memory" Canton- Betty Allen Pruett Turner, age 83, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Grady and Ethel Allen Pruett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Evertte Turner, who died on December 12, 1992; and two brothers, Jack and Tom Pruett. She was employed as a housekeeper for the Canton Nursing Home and was an active member of the Dutch Cove Baptist Church. Betty was a special lady who was adored by all who knew her and she will be remembered for her selfless nature. She was a caregiver at heart who diligently cared for those she loved. An interesting fact about Betty was that within her family she was known as the best fly fisherman. Betty is survived by a daughter, Rose Mary Sutton, of Canton; a son, David Turner and his wife, Madge, of Iron Duff; two brothers, Ray Pruett and his wife, Mickey, of Canton and Robert Pruett, of Canton; three grandchildren, Kim Hipps and her husband, Nathan, Chip Venable and his wife, Kristina, Libby Rowe; eleven great-grandchildren, Vanessa Venable, Alex Allmond, Joshua Venable, Braydon Schiff, Britton Schiff, Brooke Hughes, Carrie Hipps, Colton Hipps, Logan Hipps, Lauren Rowe, Jared Rowe; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Dutch Cove Baptist Church with the Reverend Jason Miller and Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
