Betty Worley

Canton- Betty Jane Devlin Worley,82, passed away on January 31, 2023, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Bryan H. and Pearl Ruth Pressley Devlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Worley, who passed away in 2018.

She was a loving grandmother, and she would get so excited every time she saw each of her grandchildren. One of Betty’s greatest joys was giving and receiving gifts. She always wanted to help her loved ones in any way that she could.

Betty loved traveling, camping, her family, and her many dogs over the years. She spent many years in the Haywood County Home Demonstration Club and was involved in making crafts and working in the community. She was also greatly involved with the Girl Scouts of America as a troop leader & participated in the Village of Yesteryear at the NC State Fair for many years. Candles were her most favorite way to enjoy a night of listening to her favorite gospel music, watching game shows, and of course going to every George Strait concert in town. Her faithful dog "Pupster" was beside her at every moment. You could catch her doing a little jig to the music that filled her life. Betty loved to read the Bible and talk about what it meant to her.

She is survived by three children, Angela Vargas (Jeff), Brian Worley, and Susan Shoemaker; and five grandchildren; Shelby Ackley (Sean), Olivia Vargas, Lindsay Vargas, Jared Shoemaker and Jordyn Shoemaker.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
