"1922 - 2017"
Waynesville, Beulah McMurray Setser, 95, of Lake Junaluska, NC entered her heavenly home on December 17, 2017. Beulah was a loving and supportive wife, mother, sister, and friend. Born in Polk County on December 6, 1922 she is the daughter of Hoyt and Vera McMurray. After her childhood on the family farm, Beulah graduated from Brevard College and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (Woman's College) where she earned her degree in Home Economics.
While in college she met the love of her life, Mack Slagle Setser, whom she married on January 11, 1946. Beulah and Mack supported each other during their 65-year marriage journey. Beulah was an active member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church in Lake Junaluska, where she served on the Building Committee, building two parsonages. She was also instrumental in forming the first pre-kindergarten program at the church, and was the oldest living member.
She served her community by being a charter member of Waynesville Altrusa Club, and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club.
In the early 1980's, Beulah became a small business owner founding a women's clothing boutique, "Ms. Enloe" in Waynesville. She later partnered with her daughter, Vicky Hinkley, to operate "The Specialty Shoppe" until 2001.
Beulah was blessed to live a long and productive life, and she was happiest with her family gathered around the dining room table enjoying one of her delicious meals. She also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states with Mack and family members.
