Beverly Dixson

Waynesville-Beverly Maxine Dixson, age 76, of 212 Broadview Road, died on Monday, July 10, 2006 at her residence. A native of Hurley, SD, and a resident of Haywood County for the last 12 years moving here from Durham, NC. She was the daughter of the late Niels and Opal C. Jernigan Strandlund. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Kline Dixson who died in 1984 and a sister, Iris Johnson. She was a sales clerk for Sears for 20 years and was a member of Longs Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flowers, birds, music, knitting, sewing, and caring for her family and her cats. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Carver, and her husband, Jimmy, of Chapel Hill; three sons, Dr. George Randall Dixson and his wife, Ruby, of Murphy, Dennis Wayne Dixson and his wife, Millie, of Waynesville, and Chris Roger Dixson and his wife, Mandy, of Snow Camp, NC; two brothers, Chris Newton Strandlund, of Jacksonville, AR and Richard Strandlund, of Conway, AR; twelve grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend William McNeill and Reverend Alan Mears officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
