Bill Collingwood, Jr.

Maggie Valley, William "Bill" H. Collingwood, Jr., 74, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his residence. Bill was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had previously resided in Seattle, Washington and most of his life in Homestead, Florida before moving to Haywood County in 1993. He was the son of the late William H. and Elizabeth Denk Collingwood, Sr. and was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy McLaughlin. Bill was a US Air Force veteran and was a self-employed cartoonist. He will be remembered for his unique nature and love for his family. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane Nowell Collingwood; daughters, Debbie Collingwood, of Winter Springs, Florida and Susie Rekechensky and husband, Roman, of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida; a sister, Sandy Collingwood, of Arizona; a brother, Richard Collingwood and wife, Pam, of Seattle, Washington; and two grandchildren, Tiffany and Alexis Ward. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
