"1933 – 2015" Clyde – Billy "Bill" Queen, age 82, slipped peacefully into eternity following a period of declining health, at The Homestead, on Monday afternoon, June 29, 2015. Bill was born in Haywood County to Forrest M. and Effie Cook Queen, who proceeds him along with eleven other brothers and sisters. He was a 1952 graduate of Bethel High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the submarine, USS Requin. He retired as a business manager of the Haywood County Hospital in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Freda Hipps Queen of Clyde; one son, Jeffrey Sheffield Queen of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one step-son, Derek Burress and his wife, Chris, of East Flat Rock; one step-daughter, Lauren Burress of Canton; one brother, D.B. Queen and his wife, Maxine Mease Queen; grandchildren, Yancey Sutton, Knox Rogers, Morgan Suttles, Shaye, Sarah and Chase Morrow; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. To honor his wishes, a private graveside service was held at Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery on Hyder Mountain and he was laid to rest beside his beloved father-in-law, Chester Jack Hipps, in the family plot.
