Bill Turner

Bill Wallace Turner, age 82, died on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Weaver and Etta Davis Turner. He was also preceded in death by his beloved and cherished wife of 62 years, Doris Jackson Turner who died in October, 2009, a daughter, Tana Arlene Turner; five brothers, Ralph, Henry, Carl, Alvin, and Arthur Turner; and one sister, Joreka Turner. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran serving in the Pacific and Phillipines. He is survived by a brother, Alden Turner of Hendersonville; three nieces; and ten nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. James G. Mackey and Reverend W. O. "Bill" Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
