Waynesville, Billie Marion Ferguson, age 90, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Maggie Stevenson Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Edna Caldwell Ferguson who died in 2009; one daughter, Linda Lee Ferguson; one son and daughter-in-law Tim and Lynne Ferguson; a brother-in-law, Donald Burgman; and a sister-in-law, Edith Schleicher. Billie was a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church. He worked for Dayco Corporation for 39 years and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Billie enjoyed fishing and traveling. Billie is survived by one son, Michael D. Ferguson, and his wife, Judy, of Clyde; grandchildren, Phillip Ferguson, and his wife, Andrea; Crystal Stanford, and her husband, Steven; great-grandchildren, Colbie, Davis and Dawson Ferguson, all of Waynesville; one brother, Jack Ray Ferguson, and his wife, Carolyn, of Candler; one sister, Betty Ruth Burgman, of Port Orange, Florida; two brother-in-laws, Brian Schleicher, of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Dennis Caldwell, and his wife, Mary Lou, of Canton; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Steven Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
