Billie Walker

Lake Junaluska, Billie Christine Clark Walker, age 90 died on Friday, May 28, 2010 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Dottie Gibbs and Rev. Dr. Lewis Gibbs, which she shared with her husband, John W. Walker, at Lake Junaluska. Billie was a devoted mother, wife and follower of Christ. She was born on January 20, 1920. She was predeceased by her parents, Haywood and Josie Clark of Caldwell County; brothers, Howard T. Clark, R. Eugene Clark and Walter L. Clark; and sisters, Toye M. Clark and Ruby F. Clark. In addition to her husband and her daughter Dottie, she is survived by a son, Tony W. Walker and his wife Julie of Gainesville, Georgia, and a daughter, Carol W. Price and her husband Charles of Hickory, NC, and Columbia Falls, MT., nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She lived for 86 years in the Clark's Chapel community of Caldwell County, NC, where she was an active member of Colliers United Methodist Church for over fifty years, a leader in the United Methodist Women and former organist. Since moving to Lake Junaluska, she was welcomed as an affiliate member of First United Methodist Church, Waynesville, and a member of the Asbury-Wesley Class and Young at Heart. A memorial service was held at on Colliers United Methodist Church, Lenoir, NC, on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m., with the Reverend Bill Taylor officiating. A time of reception was held one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. "Sandy" Giles, Jr. officiated. The family received friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
