Billie Wells

Billie Joyce Pressley Wells, age 71, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of Robert and Dolly Setzer Pressley. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertie Jo Conard, Faye Johnson and Sara Truitt and two brothers, Frank Pressley and Walter "Bud" Pressley. She was a 1952 graduate of Canton High School and a former employee of the American Enka Corporation. She was a retired bank teller with First Citizens Bank with 18 years service. She also was a member of First Baptist Church of Canton and the Goodson Sunday School class. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Joe L. Wells of Canton, she is survived by a son, Joseph Douglas Wells of Canton; a sister, Nora Bailey of Canton; a brother, Tom Pressley of Waynesville and two grandsons, Evan Joseph and Elliott James Wells. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Dr. Rick Gosnell and Reverend Hal Finney officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Canton , Long Range Building Fund, 74 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716.
