Billy Mehaffey

Clyde – Billy Wayne Mehaffey, age 63, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, Billy was the son of Mabel Downs Mehaffey and the late Clyde Mehaffey. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tasmaria Suzanne Mehaffey, and a sister, Tracy Mehaffey. Billy was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed his reading, following NASCAR racing, and was an avid Pittsburg Steelers Fan. In addition to his mother, Billy is survived by his wife, Debbie Frady Mehaffey, of Clyde; a daughter, Debrinia Mehaffey, of Canton; a special daughter, Robin Black, of Canton; a sister, Dee Sluder, and her husband, Dean, of Arden; two brothers, Dewey Mehaffey, of Canton, and Steve Mehaffey and his wife, Brenda, of Waynesville; and two grandchildren, Harmony and Jurnee Connor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building One, Asheville, NC 28801.
