Bjorn Sverre Johannessen, 90, of Asheville, died peacefully at home on April 11, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life.
Born in Sarpsborg, Norway on April 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Georg and Dagmar Johannessen. Growing up during World War II, Bjorn was raised with perseverance and a passion for success, which he learned from his parents. He met and married the love of his life, Anne Marie, in Norway before the two embarked on a journey to the United States on SS Bergensfjord. Anne and Bjorn settled in the United States where they lived a long and beautiful life together.
In addition to his parents, Bjorn was preceded in death by his wife, Anne, and two daughters, Reidun Lee and Andrea Johannessen. Remaining family members to continue his legacy include his son, Robby and wife Carolyn, of Asheville; his son-in-law, Jeff Lee, of Florida; granddaughters Amanda Weller (Damian) and Jessica Crooks (Logan) of Asheville; grandson Henry Lee (Jennifer) of Florida; and great-grandchildren Zachary Lee and Nora Crooks.
Angela Ocampo, of Asheville, was a dear friend to Bjorn who provided care and compassion to him during his final years.
