Blanche Grimsley

"1928 ~ 2018"

Asheville - Blanche Edna Worley Grimsley, 89, passed away on January 1, 2018 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A native of Clay County, she was a daughter of the late Elisha and Janie Stamey Southerland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Worley, who died in 1990 and her second husband, Vernon Grimsley, who died in 2015; two sons, Donald "Donnie" Hugh Worley and Stephen Ray Worley; and three step children, Linda Hartless, Robert and Charles Worley. Blanche worked at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 30 years. She was a member of Erwin Hills 7th Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by five daughters, Carolyn Woody Leopard, Geraldine "Deane" Elaine Burbank of Candler, Vicki Joy Reese of Asheville, Debra Sue "Debbie" Worley Whiteside of West Columbia, South Carolina and Janie Elizabeth Cooper (Steve), of Yorktown, Virginia; one son, Jerry Elisha Worley (Wanda) of Candler; one step-son, Steve Grimsley (Trisha) of Maryville, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Don Bankhead and Pastor Ed Couser officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
