Blanche Hooten

December 15, 1918 — April 8, 2008

Waynesville, Blanche Elizabeth Hooten, age 89, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native of Rutland, Vermont, she had resided in Clermont, FL for 54 years before moving to Haywood County in 2007. She was the daughter of the late Octave and Blanche Louise Gosselin Chamberland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Love Hooten who died in 1996, and one sister, Genny John. She attended Columbian University and owned Clermont Travel Agency in Clermont, FL where she served as president of the Clermont Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge and ballroom dancing. She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Walker, of Winter Springs, FL; one son, David M. Hooten and his wife, Zada, of Maggie Valley; one sister, Yette Alford of Mclean, VA; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in Clermont, FL at a later date.
