Waynesville, Blanche Plemmons, age 70, of Jennings Lane, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at MedWest Haywood. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Essie Hooper Moore and was also preceded in death by an infant brother and one sister, Marlene Plemmons. Blanche graduated from Cullowhee High School and retired from Buster Brown where she was employed for 25 years. She was a member of North Hazelwood Baptist Church where she played the piano for the church choir and was a member of a singing trio. Blanche also played the piano at Autumn Care as part of their Nursing Home Ministry. Blanche loved spending time with her family, working in her flower garden, and doing word-search books. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jennings Plemmons; two sons, Jeffery Plemmons and his wife, Beth, and David Plemmons and his wife, Karis, all of Waynesville; three sisters, Sue Norman and Bessie Moore, both of Cullowhee and Anna Awald of Mills River; one brother, Vance Moore, of Cullowhee; and three grandchildren, Hannah, Stephen, and Abigail Plemmons. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at North Hazelwood Baptist Church with Reverend James Hensley officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Green Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of North Hazelwood Baptist Church, Mark Burris, Don Bryson, John Dale, Stuart Matney and Ray Clark and also Johnny Williamson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the church. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
