Bobbie Whitaker

Bobbie Covington Whitaker, 82, passed away on December 29, 2020 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Clyde Lee Covington in 1970 and second husband, Ralph P. Whitaker in 1997.  In addition, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lynnie Covington; two sisters, Doshia Buchanan and Lizzie Beasley; and four brothers, Ernest Justice, Jack Justice, Kenneth Earl Parks and Jerry Parks.

Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Tempest (Pat) of Clovis New Mexico and Jackie Burris (Erich) of White Oak; son, Barry Covington (Janet) of Hendersonville; sisters, Irene Hill of Waynesville, Judy Mathews (Harold) of Canton, Hilda Ewart and Grovene Presnell both of Waynesville and grandchildren, Leon Tempest of Irmo, SC, Thomas Belcher (Sarah) of Germany and Meredith Belcher of Atlanta.

She was a member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Pisgah View Memorial Park.   The Reverend Brian Byrd and Reverend Larry Colling will officiate.  Mrs. Whitaker will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
