Bobby Joe Hoglen, age 68, of Surrett Road died Monday, December 11, 2006, at his residence. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Lemuel and Lestie Wilson Hoglen. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, George, Floyd, Red, Jack, and Ted Hoglen; and two sisters, Wilma Ballew and Rebecca Riddle. He retired from Mayhew Construction Company with 25 years of service. Bobby camped for 30 years every summer at the KOA Campground in Cherokee and he loved to fish. He was a United States Navy veteran. In addition to his wife of 28 years, Lurena Reynolds Hoglen, he is survived by three sons, Bobby D. Hoglen and his wife, Cathy, Lloyd Wayne Hoglen, and Jimmy V. Reynolds and his wife, Kathy, all of Candler; three sisters, Polly Herron of Leicester, and Linda Morgan and Regina Hoglen both of Candler; three brothers, Virgal "Bud" Hoglen of Columbia, SC and Rex Hoglen and Edward Hoglen both of Candler; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2006, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
