Waynesville, Bobby Joe Jackson, Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2023 at his residence surrounded by loving family.
A native of Haywood County, he was one of six children born to Clyde Jackson and Annie Mae Burnette Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline; sisters, Wilma, Gloria, and Ruth; and brother, Willie.
Ole Champ had a successful 35 year career at Champion International Paper as a machine operator on the 11 & 12 machines. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, being outdoors fishing and planting beautiful flowers every year.
Bobby is survived by his dear son, Bobby "Joey" Joe Jackson, Jr., and Jennifer; brother, Clyde Jackson (Shirley); brother-in-law, Boogie Bryant; two grandchildren, Monique Grant, and her husband Rashawn, and Landry Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Javea, Ja'Teis, and Na'Shawn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home on Saturday, April 15, 2023 with a Homegoing Celebration at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Walter Bryson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Special family members will serve as floral bearers and pallbearers. Following the burial, a repast will be held at Wells Events & Reception Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to Landry in honor of his grandfather.
