Waynesville, Bonnie Frances Hendrix Lanning, age 74, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Mission Hospital Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Swan and Alley Hendrix. In addition to her parents, four brothers, Elmer, Ralph, Gordon, and Oscar Hendrix preceded her in death. Bonnie was a faithful and lifelong member of Allens Creek Baptist Church and she enjoyed her Sunday school class very much. She especially loved bluegrass and gospel music and collected antique musical instruments. Bonnie also enjoyed flowers, crafts, especially rug braiding and basket weaving and above all else she loved her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Earl Lanning; two daughters, June L. Ray of Waynesville and Judy L. Johnson and her husband, Mike, of Crowheart, WY; four grandchildren, Holly Fletcher-Curé, and her husband, Jorge, Ryan Lanning Sutton, and his wife, Jennifer, Megan N. Ray, and Thomas Kiplen "Kip" Ray, II; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Fletcher and Jackson and Jacob Sutton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the team at Asheville Pulmonary and Critical Care, ICU nurses at Memorial Mission, her church family at Allens Creek and all other special family and friends for all their love and support. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Dietz officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
