Bonnie Ledford

September 30, 1930 — August 1, 2010

Waynesville, Bonnie Lee Smith Ledford, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Swain County, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Britton and Della Postel Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ledford, who died in 2009. She was owner/operator of Bonnie's Hair Fashions for more than 50 years. Bonnie loved to cook and can vegetables, but above all she loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of Ninevah Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School. She is survived by two sons, Heyward Ledford and his wife, Eunice of Waynesville and Britt Ledford and his wife, Pilar, of Wilson, North Carolina and five grandchildren, Caroline, Margot, Della, Julian, and Emma Ledford. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Ninevah Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Leslie and Reverend Wayne Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ninevah Baptist Church, 931 County Club Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
