Bonnie Wood

Waynesville-Bonnie Messer Wood, age 71, of the Hemphill Community, died on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Solace Center of Asheville. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Printha Ann Johnson Messer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George B. Wood, Sr. who died in 1999 and four brothers, Oscar, David, John, and Ernest Messer. She is survived by one son, George B. "Jody" Wood, Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Waynesville; three sisters, Hattie Garland, Jane Curtis, Bobbie Parker; three brothers, Verlin, Harrison, and Tom Messer; two grandchildren, Ann White and Daniel Wood; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Cheyenne White. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with Reverend Bobby Downs officiating. Burial will follow at Caldwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the John F. Keever Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
