Brenda Houser

Waynesville - Brenda Gail Cutshaw Houser, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Truman Newton and Essie Maye Messer Cutshaw and was also preceded in death by a son, Jason Houser, Von West, and brother, Butch Cutshaw. She was employed as a registered nurse at Richmond and Brunswick County hospitals for 20 years. She loved antique jewelry and enjoyed treasure hunting at flea markets, antique shops, and yard sales. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Misty Houser Hewett and husband, Darien of Oak Island, North Carolina; sisters, Jean Rose and husband, Lloyd, Hazel Lee Surrett, Sally Mintz, Carolyn Rose and Jean Ann Rose; brothers, John Cutshaw and wife, Shirley and David Rose and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Megan Houser and Enli Hewett; significant other, Mitchell Ralph; several nieces and nephews; and step children, Michelle High and Andy West. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with Reverend Daryl Hannah officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Homestead, 127 Sunset Ridge, Clyde, NC 28721.
