Brenda Metcalf

Brenda Metcalf, 70, passed away at Care Partners Solace in Asheville, North Carolina on February 15, 2022 at 2:20 a.m. Brenda Joan Metcalf was the daughter of Jesse James Metcalf (1920-2014) & Robbie Edith McIntosh Metcalf (1931-2014). She was the wife of William Wayne Metcalf, Jr. who she married on July 31, 1968 at the age of 17. She was the mother of David Wayne Metcalf, Tara Ann Metcalf Pressley, Jesse Nathan Metcalf and Jacob Monroe Metcalf. She was the grandmother of Jacob Allen Pressley, James Nicholas Pressley, Marah Ellen Metcalf, Carson Orion Metcalf, and Chloe Luna Metcalf. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her granddaughter, Abbey E. Metcalf.

She was born in Madison County, N.C., but lived in Erwin, Tennessee and Hampton, Virginia. She moved to Buncombe County, N.C. in 1966 and spent the rest of her life in Western North Carolina. She attended Enka High School (Class of 1969) and graduated from UNCA with a degree in accounting. She worked at Dave Steel Company for almost 30 years where she retired as Accounting Manager.

She was devoted to her family. She loved completely. She was happiest when she was doing something for her family. She loved to cook and to read. She was the center of her family. She was devoted to her parents. She loved her sister, Linda, and her children. She loved her extended family in Virginia, Joan, Bonnie and Terri and their families. She loved her extended family in Tennessee. She always looked for ways to be of service to her family. She was held in high regard by her husband's family.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Wells Chapel of Faith with Eddie “Dean” Ledford officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Tom Pressley, Jacob Pressley, Nick Pressley, Barry Metcalf, Mark Metcalf and David Metcalf.
