Brenda Rogers

Waynesville, Brenda Shelton Rogers, age 65, of Azalea Drive, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at MedWest Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hettie Mae Brown Shelton. She was employed as a medical transcriptionist at Mountain Medical and Haywood County Hospital for more than twenty years. Brenda's life revolved around two things, her Lord and her family. For nearly 49 years, she played the organ with her friend Ruby Cassada at Barberville Baptist Church and Calvary Road Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Brenda will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Brenda is survived by her husband, Gary "Mike" Rogers; children, Myra Anderson and her husband, Cullen, and Tony Rogers and his wife, Shelly, of the Bethel Community; brothers, Allan Shelton and his wife, Vicky, and Lavoy Shelton, of Waynesville; and three grandchildren, Aaron and Annabeth Anderson and Mckinley Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with Reverend John H. Swanger III and Reverend J.D. Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Branson Reece, Matt Ferguson, Josh Burgess, Terry Shelton, Hugh Hutchinson, and Joey Webb, Sr. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
