Brenda Wiggins

Waynesville, Brenda Ruth Hyde Wiggins, age 68, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley C. and Juanita Smith Hyde. Brenda was a registered nurse and was employed at Haywood County Hospital, now known as Haywood Regional Medical Center for 41 years. Brenda was a special lady who was loved and admired by all who knew her. She was dedicated to her career as a nurse and thought of it not only as a job but a ministry. Brenda was supportive to her many friends and all of her family whom she adored. Some of her favorite times were spent in her kitchen where she enjoyed making candy, cooking and canning. Her family was the apple of her eye, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Above all, she lived her life for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Beth Eden Baptist Church. Brenda is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mac H. Wiggins; two sons, Brian Wiggins and his wife, Lori, of Canton and Matthew H. Wiggins and his wife, Kellye, of Waynesville; two brothers, Martin Hyde and his wife, Frances of the Bethel Community and Wiley C. Hyde, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Caleb Richie, and Abbygail and Adam Wiggins; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Charles W. "Chuck" Wilson, II officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wells Events and Reception Center.
