Bruce Herbert Booher quietly passed away at his home on March 22, 2025. Born October 6, 1944, in Pennsylvania then moved to Dade County, FL at the age of 1½ yrs old and lived in south Florida until he retired in 2001.
A proud veteran, Bruce served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era, further exemplifying his spirit of service to his country. Bruce dedicated 27 years of his life to the Margate Florida Police Department, where he served as a sergeant before retiring in 2001. His commitment to protecting and serving his community reflects a profound sense of duty and integrity that characterized his approach to life.
He was a member of the Central Haywood Church of Christ, where he found comfort and community in his faith. Beyond his professional achievements, Bruce had a zest for life that included a passion for travel. Bruce's hobbies reflected his appreciation for tradition and craftsmanship, as he enjoyed working on and showcasing his classic vehicles and was a Nascar fan. His enthusiasm for life and adventure was infectious, bringing smiles to all who crossed his path. He also had a special attachment to his dogs, who were a significant part of his life and brought him joy and companionship.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Whigham Booher, with whom he shared 25 cherished years. His family circle also includes his daughter, Julie Pelham (Brian); stepdaughter, Sheila Whigham Reece; son, Brian Booher (Aubrey); sister-in-law, Linda Booher; along with his beloved three grandchildren, Hailey Pelham, Jacob Pelham, and Bruce M. Booher.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Hazel Gornall Booher; his brother, Terrence Booher; and his son-in-law, Douglas Reece and mother-in-law, Ella Katz. Their memories continue to live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville followed by Military Honors. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

His legacy will endure through the love of his family and the countless memories shared with friends and community members. Bruce will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
