Bruce Larivee

Bruce L. Larivee, 73, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, passed away at his residence on December 14, 2016, after a battle with cancer. He was born May 25, 1943, oldest son of the late Lionel "Leo" D. and Jeanette (Bilodeau) Larivee. He resided 35 years in Miami, Florida, where he was employed by Eastern Air Lines and Florida Power & Light as a Systems Engineer, moving in 2000 to Haywood County, North Carolina. After traveling extensively using airline employee benefits, Bruce loved his last years spent in the comfort of the Great Smoky Mountains with his beloved pets. He was a wonderful cook, specializing in cooking gourmet food from whatever he could find in the kitchen. He derived great pleasure from giving back to Haywood County by volunteering at Haywood Regional Medical Center Outpatient Services, AARP Tax Aide, Sarge's Animal Rescue, and the Haywood County Democratic Party. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn A. Larivee of Holyoke, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carole Larivee of Waynesville; son Jeffrey Larivee of Whitinsville, Massachusetts; daughter Robin Johnson and husband, Charlie, of Northbridge, Massachusetts and their children, Bruce's grandchildren, Melody McNeff and Christopher Johnson; stepson, Robert Jackson, of Acworth, Georgia; sister-in-law Elizabeth "Betty" Larivee of Holyoke, Massachusetts; close cousin Thomas and wife Marilyn of Chicopee, Massachusetts, and their children Taryn and Travis; the Bilodeau family cousins in Sherbrook, Canada; sister-in –law Allein Stanley of Mount Holly, North Carolina; brother-in-law Louis Carson of Thousand Oaks, California; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His family invites you to a Celebration of his Life from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at Wells Event and Reception Center, 33 Wells Events Way, Waynesville, North Carolina, 28786. You are invited to share stories about your adventures with Bruce at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation, 256 Industrial Park Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
