Bruce Morford

Waynesville - Bruce Dee Morford, age 57, of Florida and North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008 surrounded by his family at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Newton, KS and resident of Satellite Beach, FL and Waynesville, NC. He was the son of Vivian Blankenship Morford of Burnet, TX and the late Weldon Dee Morford. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy James Burbank, who died in July 2007. He was a police officer for the City of Deland, FL for 15 years, retiring in 1989. Bruce was of Baptist faith and had a huge heart for all his friends and family who will miss him tremendously. He especially enjoyed painting and traveling. He never met a stranger. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Julia Morford; two daughters, Kelly Morford Clark and her husband, George, of Bunnell, FL and Kristen Dee Morford of Pierson, FL; three sons, Charles Lee Clouser and his wife, Wendy L. of Liberty Township, OH, George Wesley Strider of New Point, VA, and Jeffrey Blaine Burbank and his wife, Denise Ziwisky, of Goodyear, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Denise Burbank; one sister, Linda Morford Downey of Burnet, TX; two brothers, James L. Morford and his wife, Faye, of Donie, TX and David L. Morford and his wife, Laura, of Shawnee, KS; one brother-in-law, Don Orrell, of Waynesville; nine grandchildren, Katelyn Clouser, Lane Morford, George Clark, Hunter Burbank, Tiana Ziwisky, Hunter Burbank, and Destyne Ziwisky, and Jacob, Jordan, and Jensen Burbank; four nephews, Jonathan and Noah Morford, Mike Downey, and Bryant Thomas; two nieces, Judah Morford and Eryn Thomas; and his yellow lab, Grace. An informal memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. The family will receive friends following the service.
