Waynesville, Buell Dan Haynie, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home. A native of Haywood County, Buell is the son of the late Bud and Mae Sutton Haynie. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bocker.
Buell served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was the proud owner of G&F Protype Inc., an automotive tooling company.
He was of the Catholic Faith. He loved to golf, fish, hunt and gardening.
Buell leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Gayle Bryant Haynie; daughter, Patricia Lunardi (Chris); three sons, Ron Haynie, Ken Haynie (Patti), and Brad Haynie; a stepson, Lonnie Warpup; two grandchildren, Lyndon Haynie (Aly) and Caleb Haynie.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Father Paul McNulty officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
