Waynesville, C. Jeff Reece, Jr., age 84, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Harris Regional Hospital.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Claude Jefferson and Nora Massie Reece.
Jeff proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Oak Ridge Military Institute and Clemson University. He retired in 2005 after 40 years of service as an electrical engineer and partner with Reece, Noland & McElrath, Inc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville and served on the Board of Trustees. Jeff was also a former President of both the Downtown Waynesville Association and Waynesville Rotary Club, and current President of Haywood Rod & Gun Club. He served on the Board of Haywood Savings & Loan Association for 30 years, Brevard College Board of Trustees, Lake Junaluska Assembly Board of Trustees and Haywood County Board of Health. He was a Shriner and Master Mason for 50 years. A member of numerous engineering associations, including Professional Engineers of North Carolina, where he was recognized as a fellow. Jeff enjoyed boating on Fontana Lake, planning family trips, and being a private pilot.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Wasgatt Reece; daughter, Caroline Aquino, and her husband, Agustin, of The Plains, Virginia; son, Chuck Reece of Waynesville; grandson James Aquino; and granddaughter, Leigh Reece.
A private family service will be held.
