Callie Holland

November 9, 1929 — April 24, 2010

Waynesville, Callie Clarke Holland, age 80, of Fairway Hills, died on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Autumn Care. Callie was a native Haywood County, and the daughter of the late Rufus and Mallye McHone Clarke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson W. Holland who died in 2008; a daughter in law, Charlotte Holland; sister, Vivian Coulby and a brother, Malcolm Clarke. Callie was owner and operator of a motel and she enjoyed shopping, cooking, church bus trips, her neighbors and helping children. She was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Phillip C. Holland, of Maggie Valley; three sister in laws, Alaska Pressley, of Maggie Valley, Grace Rhinehart, of Lake Junaluska and Sarah Clarke, of Clyde and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Hazelwood Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Lolley and Reverend John H. Swanger III officiating and serving as honorary Clergy will be Reverend G.W. Jameson. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Smith, Robert Bradley, Kelly Russell, Doug Barnett, Kevin Cable, Ronnie Dixon and Donald Smith. Memorials may be made to Hazelwood Baptist Church, 265 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
