Waynesville, Callie "Cat" Whitner Rhinehart, age 75, of Whitner Drive, died on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hester Williams Whitner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rhinehart, who died in 2005; a daughter, Carolyn Rhinehart; a son, Samuel Rhinehart, Jr.; one sister; and two brothers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed knitting. She was a caregiver and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by one son, Robert D. Rhinehart, of Avery County; two daughters, Sandra Wyatt and husband, Ralph, and Diane Sorrells and husband, Tommy, all of Waynesville; three sisters, Irene Williams and Doris London, both of Waynesville, and Judy Stephens, of Leicester; two brothers, Frank Whitner of Waynesville and James Whitner of Clyde; 6 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, November 20, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Neal Roland officiating. Burial will follow in Plott Cemetery at Saunook. Serving as pallbearers will be James and Troy Rhinehart, Roger Moody, Jeremy Roland, Ralph Wyatt, and Jerry Williams. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
