Calvin Scott

Calvin Coolidge "Hoover" Scott, age 86, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Arthur Johnson and Essie Wilson Scott. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gomer Scott, who died on July 25, 1944 in France and William Scott, who died on March 30, 1945 in Germany while serving in World War II; a brother, Mark Scott; and five sisters, Artie Worley, Bonnie Hall, Jennie Parham, Thelma Worley, and Dorothy Cody. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and repairing different things. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Woody Scott; a daughter, Peggy Pilkington of Canton; a sister, Bernice Scott of Canton; and a brother, Clay Scott and his wife, Shirley, of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gene Worley and Reverend Jack Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
